Mumbai Mantra Scripts Move Towards Becoming Feature Films

Two of last year's Mumbai Mantra CineRise mentored scripts have found themselves strong producing partners and are on their way to being made into feature films.

MacGuffin Pictures has taken 'Raat Akeli Hai' by Smita Singh. The said film will go on floor in 2017, and will be directed by Honey Trehan and produced by MacGuffin Pictures (Honey Trehan & Abhishek Chaubey).

Honey Trehan says: "Smita has a great potential and it was really great working with her on the script. Smita is a writer with a great understanding and substance. I would really like to thank and congratulate Mumbai Mantra for their script lab and the kind of talent they are putting it out, writers like Smita Singh are much much needed to create a better and a different cinema."

Highlight Films, has picked up 'The Biryani Seller' by Rajdeep Paul & Sarmishtha Maiti, which will be presented at the end of the month at the NFDC Film Bazaar as part of the official Coproduction Market selection.

Mahesh says: "You can say that I liked the script because it had an interesting viewpoint of big city life through the eyes of a creative man from a working-class community which was in contrast to the viewpoint of a western woman who enters his world. Highlight Films is looking for international coproduction partner."

Mumbai Mantra Sundance Lab alumni projects 'Tribhanga' by Renuka Shahane and 'Ink' by Pratim D. Gupta are also part of the Film Bazaar Co-production Market selection.

We wish them all the very best with their filmmaking.
