Mumbai Mantra Scripts Move Towards Becoming Feature Films
Two of last year's Mumbai Mantra CineRise mentored scripts have found themselves strong producing
partners and are on their way to being made into feature films.
MacGuffin Pictures has taken 'Raat Akeli Hai' by Smita Singh. The said film will go on floor in 2017,
and will be directed by Honey Trehan and produced by MacGuffin Pictures (Honey Trehan & Abhishek
Honey Trehan says: "Smita has a great potential and it was really great working with her on the
script. Smita is a writer with a great understanding and substance. I would really like to thank and
congratulate Mumbai Mantra for their script lab and the kind of talent they are putting it out, writers like
Smita Singh are much much needed to create a better and a different cinema."
Highlight Films, has picked up 'The Biryani Seller' by Rajdeep Paul & Sarmishtha Maiti, which will be
presented at the end of the month at the NFDC Film Bazaar as part of the official Coproduction Market
Mahesh says: "You can say that I liked the script because it had an interesting viewpoint of big city life
through the eyes of a creative man from a working-class community which was in contrast to the
viewpoint of a western woman who enters his world. Highlight Films is looking for international coproduction
Mumbai Mantra Sundance Lab alumni projects 'Tribhanga' by Renuka Shahane and 'Ink' by Pratim D.
Gupta are also part of the Film Bazaar Co-production Market selection.
